The winner will be announced on February 1st, 2026.
This sculptural vase is hand-built in wild clay, carefully gathered along the coastline of the Wadden Sea — a landscape inscribed on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The material carries a strong sense of place, shaped by tidal movement, time, and geological transformation.
The surface is defined by a pronounced vertical texture, built up layer by layer and intentionally left unrefined. The raw, almost architectural markings reveal a conscious dialogue between the artist’s hand and the inherent resistance of the material. The deep, matte black tone holds subtle variations that enhance the vessel’s sculptural weight and presence.
Positioned between functional object and sculpture, the vase is conceived as a unique work for a curated interior or collection. It does not seek attention, yet commands it through material integrity, restraint, and quiet strength.
Unique piece. Handcrafted in wild clay sourced from a UNESCO World Heritage landscape.
Height: approx. 30 cm.
