Opening Reception at Susy Grundahl – Launch of DESSERT

On Thursday, October 23rd, my new exhibition DESSERT opens in collaboration with artist Susy Grundahl, and I am delighted to invite everyone to the opening reception at her gallery. I will be present from 3:00 PM, and all are warmly welcome to attend.

DESSERT is a series of sculptural ceramic works created with sand from Dubai. The series explores the desert’s materiality, geological layers, and raw archetypes. These works have a strong physical presence, large-scale structures, and a form that balances strength, beauty, and poetic expression. Each piece is designed to bring the calm, power, and texture of the desert into the exhibition space.

The exhibition is presented in dialogue with Susy Grundahl’s black-and-white paintings. Her works are characterized by a calm, precise, and minimalist aesthetic, where the contrast between light and dark creates a unique intensity in the room. While my works carry a raw, tactile expression, her paintings insist on quiet reflection — and together, a distinctive harmony emerges.

It is precisely this dialogue that I find deeply inspiring: two artistic languages that stand strong independently, yet in combination open up a new sensory experience. I hope that all who attend will feel the tension and balance created when contrasts do not compete, but form a shared, contemplative space.
